Our tips for preparing for your wedding dress fitting

One of the most eagerly anticipated steps for a bride-to-be during wedding preparations is, of course, trying on her wedding dress! And we understand why—because it’s a truly unique experience you’re about to have. By scheduling your fitting with a “Madame a dit Oui” ambassador, we can already tell you that you’ll love trying on the different dresses from the collection and seeing yourself as a bohemian, elegant, or even modern bride!

Here are a few tips to help you prepare for your wedding dress fitting so you can enjoy it to the fullest!

1. Makeup

If possible, it’s best not to wear foundation and/or lipstick before your fitting, to avoid staining the dresses.

Go for a light makeup look, and don’t worry—our Mado team loves you au naturel! To feel even prettier, you can certainly style your hair a bit, but again, it’s not required.

2. Underwear

To help you visualize the look right from your first fitting, we recommend that you bring skin-tone panties and a backless bra. If you have a smaller bust, our wedding dresses can be worn without anything underneath. If you have a fuller bust, some of our styles are compatible with a bra. We also offer our special backless bodysuit, which is as sexy as it is comfortable

3. Shoes

If you already have an idea of the heel height you want for your wedding day, bring a similar pair of heels you already own, even if they aren’t the right style. This will help you see how the dress falls with that heel height, and to take accurate measurements for the creation of your wedding dress.

4. Explore the collection

Feel free to explore the entire collection of wedding dresses before coming to your appointment, so you’ll already have an idea of which ones you like best! You can even let our Mado know when you book your appointment, so she can best prepare for your fitting.

5. Select your size

When you make your appointment, or shortly after when you speak with the ambassador who will be meeting with you, we recommend that you clearly specify your size ! We know that for some brides-to-be, this is a bit of a taboo subject, but at Madame a dit Oui, we love curves and have designed styles that perfectly flatter every body type. We have sample dresses in various sizes that circulate among our ambassadors, and we’d be truly disappointed if we couldn’t let you try on a dress in your size! (True story—it’s happened to us before, and that’s how the Caroline style)

6. Choose the right people

And finally, your wedding dress fitting will be perfect if you have the right people with you! Break the mold and choose exactly who you want by your side for this very special day. Leave out that friend who says whatever she thinks without a filter, because you already know she’ll just ruin the fun for you.
