It’s time to start planning your wedding: choosing a venue, carefully selecting vendors, and, of course, starting your wedding dress fittings. All too often, however, one essential detail gets overlooked: choosing the right lingerie!

Your lingerie for the big day is a detail you shouldn’t overlook, because even though it’s invisible, it’s essential and very important. In fact, feeling comfortable in your lingerie will help you feel beautiful and confident on this very special day.

So, how do you choose the right lingerie for your wedding?

There are two rules: your undergarments should complement your dress and flatter your body type.

Here we are—you’ve finally found the dress of your dreams! So now it’s time to seriously consider the lingerie you’ll wear on your wedding day. The style of dress you’ve chosen will naturally guide your choice of undergarments (forget about underwire bras with a strapless dress) because, yes, the lingerie should adapt to the dress, not the other way around.

However, in addition to complementing your dress, your lingerie should flatter your body type (Relying solely on body tape when you’re an E-cup is a risky bet), to ensure optimal comfort all day long.

Since every body type is unique, there are as many breast shapes as there are women. Small, full, asymmetrical, wide-set, sagging, round… Every bust is beautiful and deserves to be flattered by lingerie that fits perfectly.

You have a small bust… what kind of underwear should you choose?

If you don't need or want support, nipple covers are your best friends! Very discreet, even invisible, they work with any dress and protect your nipples from uncomfortable rubbing against the fabric. Nippies don’t add bulk; they help maintain your breasts’ natural shape and don’t create visible lines under your wedding dress. In addition to adhering easily to your skin, most nipple covers are hypoallergenic and are therefore suitable even for the most sensitive skin. If you need light support and want to enhance the shape of your bust, foam cups are ideal. At Madame a dit oui, we usually sew them into the lining of your custom-made wedding dress to ensure they are properly positioned. The cups create a natural curve, gently lift the bust, and provide a little support.

There are also adhesive cups; they adhere directly to the skin and offer complete freedom of movement throughout your wedding. Adhesive cups stay in place and are suitable for all types of dresses. You can choose cups that stick to the dress, have a push-up effect, or add significant volume.

If your wedding dress has a tulle lining, be sure to choose pads that match your skin tone so they’re not noticeable.

Even if you have a smaller bust, you may still need (or want) support! In fact, some brides are used to wearing bras and can’t imagine going without one on their wedding day. That’s actually one of our best tips: choose underwear that makes you feel comfortable.

If you have a small bust, you can certainly wear a bra, but keep in mind that it must be the perfect match for your wedding dress. For example, a bandeau bra works well with strapless dresses, while for a plunging neckline, a triangle bra is your best bet (unless your dress is backless or lined).

You have a large bust… what kind of lingerie should you choose?

We can't stress this enough: brides need to feel 100% comfortable and confident on their wedding day. If you have a fuller bust, you should be able to enjoy the happiest day of your life without worrying that a breast might slip out of your dress. There are several solutions to help you achieve a flattering AND secure neckline: we’ll tell you everything.

The full-cup bra is perfect for larger busts, as it provides optimal support without sacrificing comfort.

In fact, deep-cup bras provide a snug fit, and the underwires offer firm support. They are ideal for shaping the bust naturally without adding extra volume. This type of bra is characterized by its wide straps, which help distribute the weight evenly.

Although it offers ultimate comfort and is perfectly suited for larger busts, the full-cup bra isn't suitable for every dress.

Do you have a full bust and is your wedding dress designed with a square neckline? The demi bra (even though its name isn’t very glamorous, we’ll admit) will subtly lift and shape your bust thanks to its semi-covering cups. Your neckline will be open and utterly elegant!

What kind of lingerie should I wear if I have sagging breasts?

If your bust tends to sag, there are several ways to enhance it under your wedding dress. The first, of course, is to wear a bra. Not only does it provide real support, but it also helps reshape the curve of your bust. If your dress allows it, you can easily opt for a demi-cup bra, which is ideal for lifting! On the other hand, if your dress is backless, go for the Back to Glam bra and its innovative design.

In fact, you can position the adhesive strips according to the look you want to achieve. This makes it possible to bring the two breasts closer together toward the center (or the opposite), lift both, or just one—in other words, you give your bust the shape you want.

All you have to do is slip a foam cover over it, and you're all set!

Plus, the body tape works with any wedding dress.

However, if you choose to wear a strap, there are a few precautions you should be aware of. It’s essential to position it correctly, so don’t hesitate to practice before the big day. Don’t forget to wear nipple covers underneath, and finally, choose a high-quality, hypoallergenic body tape that you’ve tested beforehand (no allergies on the big day!)

What about the bottom, then?

No matter what dress you’re wearing or what your body type is, we always recommend that our customers choose seamless nude-colored briefs or a thong. With this option, you can be sure there won’t be any visible lines under your dress, and you’ll feel comfortable and confident!

On the other hand, if you want to slim your figure or simply create a “smooth” base for your dress, you can wear a shapewear garment. It will help support certain parts of your body while improving your posture. This is a very popular choice among brides-to-be, but keep in mind that the shapewear must be compatible with your wedding dress and, most importantly, be the right size. Don’t hesitate to try it on ahead of time to check these points and ensure it’s comfortable.
